ZFS copy fun: Syncoid and Sanoid, how to backup a ZFS dataset

 

 

    • ZFS only runs on remote host as root so watch out for that with Ubuntu.

 

    • Destroy remote dataset if it already exists or it will whinge, or it possibly just needs the remote snapshots destroying.

 

  • Syncoid runs with LZO compression by default which is best for fast connections or LAN. For limited bandwidth connections try PIGZ .
